Two men shot and killed each other Wednesday night during an argument in the parking lot of a Jack in the Box in Oakland, the Oakland Police Department said. The shooting brings the city's homicide count to 22 so far for 2022. Officers first learned about the incident from a ShotSpotter activation, a device designed to activate on loud noises such as gunfire, that went off just before 10 p.m. in the area of the 2400 block of International Boulevard, a statement from police said.
At the scene, officers found two men, one a Richmond resident and the other from Oakland, with gunshot wounds, police said. One of the men died on the scene while the second was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The department said it's waiting to share the victims' names until after their families are notified.
