“It’s my family,” Ogunbowale said after a 31-point performance that fell just short. “They’re the closest people to me. They’re supportive of everything. I was glad I was able to see them before I got to the locker room.” First, though, Jackson drove right by Jackie Young, guarding her out top, and then by Marina Mabrey as she tried to help. “You can’t really do anything about that,” she said. “It just wasn’t meant to be. It’s tough. It’s going to be a hard pill to swallow. Things happen. I had a fun, great career here at Notre Dame, so I won’t let that define the whole four years.” Yolanda Ogunbowale, a former softball pitcher at DePaul University, offered some encouragement to her daughter as well.
