For the third consecutive year, math won out at the NBA draft lottery for the Spurs.
Though the Spurs had designs on cashing in a 20.2 percent shot at jumping into the top 4, they still came away with their highest slot since 1997, when the club selected Tim Duncan first overall. The Orlando Magic took home the top prize Tuesday, landing the No. 1 selection. It will be Orlando's first time drafting first since 2004, when the team brought in Dwight Howard.
There are three players vying to head to Orlando at first overall -- Gonzaga's Chet Holmgren, Auburn's Jabari Smith and Duke's Paolo Banchero.
