Clinics were inundated with calls as patients sought guidance. Many providers adjusted their usual offerings to align with the new law by Wednesday.

Patients filled waiting rooms Tuesday night at the four Whole Woman’s Health clinics in Texas, said Amy Hagstrom Miller, the founder and chief executive of the abortion provider that has previouslyAt the Whole Woman’s Health clinic in Fort Worth, 27 patients were still in the waiting room by 10 p.m. Tuesday night, as antiabortion protests continued outside the clinic’s doors. Doctors were performing abortions at the clinic until 11:56 p.m., she said.
