Summer is here in Central Texas and that means people are spending more time outdoors soaking up the sun. That also means dealing with dangerously hot temperatures
Austin Travis County EMS says the key to beating the Texas heat this summer is staying hydrated and wearing the proper clothing when you’re out and about. EMS also let us know what to do when the heat starts getting the best of you.
Signs of heat exhaustion include heavy sweating, weakness, cold, pale, and clammy skin, a fast or weak pulse, nausea and vomiting, and dark-colored urine. “When you look at a car, a car will actually raise 19 degrees temperature in just 10 minutes,” Baker said. “If you think about that when you’ve got a 90-degree day, in 10 minutes it’s already up to 109 degrees.”
