The airport is one of several possible sites the president's administration suggested to New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

The airport in Atlantic County is on a list of 11 federally owned facilities that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security sent in a letter to New York City Mayor Eric Adams of potential places to relocate and house some migrants, Bloomberg reported, citing an anonymous source with knowledge of the discussions.

So far, the city has set migrants up in more than 200 makeshift shelters, hotels, office buildings and temporary tents.and hinted migrants should be sent to other parts of New York. Hochul said, “We cannot and will not force other parts of our state to shelter migrants, nor are we going to be asking these migrants to move to other parts of the state against their will.”

U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-2nd Dist. — a frequent Biden critic who represents the area in Congress — denounced the idea of using the airport.
