The Tigers will play Southeastern Louisiana State on Friday to open the Auburn Regional at Plainsman Park.
Auburn baseball found out on Monday via the selection show aired on ESPN that the 14th seeded Tigers, led by coach Butch Thompson and star hitter Sonny DiChiara will play Southeastern Louisana State on Friday to open the Auburn Regional at Plainsman Park. Auburn is hosting a regional for the first time since 2010, which is the 23rd time the Tigers have hosted.
“I think about every person, every ballplayer who’s put on an Auburn uniform, I think about our fans stepping up to the plate,” Thompson said via press release. “These are opportunities to reward our players, alumni, fan base, and everybody who cares about our program. These are moments and opportunities you want to take full advantage of. It’s what you get out of bed for every single day.”Florida State and UCLA will also be coming to the Plains in hopes of advancing to a super regional.
“It’s something you dream of when you’re a little kid, coming to college baseball, going to play in Omaha,” said senior shortstop Brody Moore. “This year to have it start right here in Auburn is something special.”
