A supermoon is defined as a full moon that coincides with perigee, or the closest the Moon comes to Earth during its elliptic orbit, making it appear larger than normal.is attributed to astrologer Richard Nolle who coined it in 1976, and tonight’s Full Sturgeon Moon was the second one this year, the most recent one happening just last July 3, 2023. There will be a third on August 30, called a Full Blue Moon and the last one of the year on Sept. 28, called a Full Corn Moon.
