Sgt. Ken Thurman served the Aurora Police Department for 21 years. He is survived by his wife and 11 children.

A private funeral service was held for Thurman on Thursday, and when his casket was brought out by the Aurora Police honor guard, officers from departments across the country saluted Thurman.His family is led the police procession to the cemetery for his burial. They thanked the public for their support, but requested privacy to grieve.

Thurman, 51, was the second officer in the Aurora Police Department to die from COVID complications this month.
