Australians told not to expect any sort of ‘cash splash’ in the budget

Treasurer Jim Chalmers told a CEDA audience last week that people shouldn’t expect any cash splash to ease cost of living in the budget because the government is “wary of sticky inflation,” according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.

“The Treasurer and PM have decided they need to get this message out so people don’t get their hopes up,” Mr Clennell said. “Yes, there will be some cost-of-living relief, I am told, but only if it is determined not to be inflationary.Mr Clennell’s remarks come as the Albanese government prepares to deliver the federal budget in May.
