A Baldwin County man pleaded guilty Monday to federal child pornography charges.
Kevin Wayne Wilson, 55, of Silverhill, admitted to conspiracy to distribute and receive child pornography, and distribution of child porn.
The case began with an alert from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s cybercrimes task force. Law enforcement officers searched his home in October. According to his written plea agreement, he denied knowing anything about child pornography, claiming that he looked at adult pornography and was active on several social media sites because he is an “active swinger.”
But investigators found at least 900 sexually explicit images showing children, according to the defendant’s plea agreement. That document lists three difference examples describing videos in detail.Days after law enforcement investigators searched the house, according to court records, Wilson left a note making it clear that he didn’t intend to return home. Court records indicate that he withdrew a large amount of money and closed his bank accounts.
Police in Florida found his car near Lake Butler, Florida. But he remained at large for another 10 days. Police arrested him outside a bail bondsman’s office. His car had been painted white. Chief U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Beaverstock set sentencing for July 22. Wilson faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a mandatory-minimum sentence of five years.Mobile PD charges two with murder of 52-year-old man
