Should fans lower expectations of the Spurs this season?
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama is the face of the new health drink Barcode and that face is set to splash across television sets in a brand-new television commercial.
Sports Business Journal describes the ad as showing Wembanyama speaking French paired with highlights of him leading up to the 2023 NBA Draft. “It made sense for us as an emerging brand and at this massive inflection point on the distribution side of the house. It also makes sense as we think about building loyalists to the company. There’s novelty in Victor and there’s attraction to him whether you follow basketball or not," said Barcode Founder & CEO Mubarak Malik to Sports Business Journal.
Sports Business Journal says his ad will run for 90 days across various streaming platforms and via geo-targeted ad buys in New York, California, and Texas.Barcode is described as"next-generation hydration" for everyday performance. It is plant-based and is also touted to help with mood, immunity, recovery, and performance according to the company.Barcode also announced billboards featuring the Spurs rookie dot San Antonio and Austin.
