The barking of Max alerted rescuers to the location of Sherry Noppe in a park near Houston, Texas.

Sherry Noppe, 63, who recently was diagnosed with mild dementia, was found in a wooded area in Katy, Texas, after rescuers heard the barking of her dog, who stayed by her side for three days. KATY, Texas — A 63-year-old woman suffering from mild dementia who had been missing for three days was found safe after rescuers heard her dog barking in a park’s wooded area.that volunteers found Sherry Noppe at about 3 a.m. Friday, May 6, in George Bush Park when they heard barking from her dog, Max.

“With Max, that dog had no leash, no collar, and stayed by her side for three days,” said Noppe’s son, Justin. “And that just shows you the loyalty the dog has. He was never going to leave her side.” Justin Noppe said his mother was found about 50 to 100 yards off of a trail in the park in a heavily wooded area. It’s believed she had not moved from the spot, which is about two miles from her home, during the entire ordeal.Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
