A public hearing was held in Bay Village on Aug. 31 regarding streets, sewers and drainage in the city, but the meeting ended up focusing on some flooded basements due to back-to-back rainstorms across Cleveland
Council members, department heads and Mayor Paul Koomar attended to address the issues and take questions from residents.Residents took the microphone to ask their questions. Some questions were very specific to their homes, but others were comments on what they felt were repetitions of questions and requests in the past that were not handled by the city.
Some maintenance, they said, includes smoke testing and dye testing of sanitary sewers plus dye testing of properties including downspouts and drains that will be happening from November through July 2024. A fair number of residents kept pressing the point that promises are made but not kept and also worry about increased taxes.
· Smoke testing of sanitary mains to obtain a general understanding of possible sources, public and private· Manhole inspections· Verify that storm sewer outlets at creeks and ditches are open
