Bexar County Sheriff's Department cadet Ricardo Gutierrez, seen in a Bexar County jail booking photo provided Jan. 4, 2023, was arrested Jan. 3, 2023 and charged with family assault after he allegedly got into an argument with his girlfriend and choked her, according to a press release.
Ricardo Gutierrez has also been terminated from the sheriff's office after an incident that took place around 5:40 p.m. Monday at a residence in the 7000 block of Culebra Road while he was off duty, the email said. According to BCSO, Gutierrez's girlfriend said he started choking her until she was unable to breathe during an argument that started after she said she wanted to move back to her hometown. By the time the authorities arrived, Gutierrez had left the scene and reported for his assigned shift at the BExar County Jail. After BCSO Public Integrity investigators learned of the incident, Gutierrez was immediately removed from his work station and interviewed by detectives.
