Smaller brands: to the front! Bergdorfs

In a crowded fashion landscape, it's not always easy for smaller, independent designers to stand out against the bigger players. Bergdorf Goodman, which has long carried megabrands and emerging labels alike, is taking another step in championing young designers with the launch of a new initiative: BG Radar.

The program, which kicks off September 6, is a curation of buzzy, next-gen brands from all over the world that are capturing the industry's attention. The lineup includes: Bernadette, Bode, Coperni, Deveaux New York, Khaite, LouLou Studio, Rotate Birger Christensen, and Sies Marjan. The store's sixth floor will house all of the brands' fall collections in a dedicated space, including some product exclusive to Bergdorf. Each designer worked with the store's visual team to create their own interactive installations, which serve as an ode to their fall runway shows, lookbooks, and campaign imagery.

Sies Marjan, for example, will have a wall mimicking the millions of crystals designer Sander Lak had on his runway. And Khaite is recreating some of their dramatic autumnal elements from designer Cate Holstein's February show."At BG, we take pride in serving as a destination for discovery to our clients," said Bergdorf Goodman's chief merchant Yumi Chin in a statement.

Shoppers will get the chance to meet the Radar designers and experience their installations first-hand on September 7 from 1-4pm.
