A new poll asking who should be the leader of the Democratic Party spells trouble for President Joe Biden before his expected announcement regarding 2024.

The poll released Tuesday showed that only 12% of respondents believe that Biden should be the leader of the party. The president was followed by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries , Sen. Bernie Sanders , and Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez at 5% each, with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer , former President Barack Obama, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Vice President Kamala Harris each at 3%, according to the Associated Press-NORC poll.

The poll was conducted from Jan. 26 to Jan. 30 via online and telephone interviews surveying 1,068 adults across the United States. The margin of error with this poll is plus or minus 4.2 percentage points. The poll also found that most respondents do not have a favorable view of the party's top leaders.

Respondents were also asked who they wanted as the leader of the Republican Party, with Gov. Ron DeSantis receiving the most support of all the candidates at 22%. Former President Donald Trump, who is running for president again in 2024, received 20% of support. Biden, who was the oldest president elected into office in 2020 and is now 80 years old, has not yet made an announcement on whether he will run for reelection. However, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Sunday that the president"intends to run."Besides Trump, former Gov. Nikki Haley and West Virginia businessman Rollan Roberts II are running to gain the GOP nomination for the 2024 presidential election.
