Although the COVID-19 vaccines are highly effective at protecting against severe illness and transmission, including against virus variants, insufficient vaccination allows pockets of high transmission to persist and spread,Only with high rates of vaccination throughout the population can we contain the virus in the United States.
The United States should strive for levels approaching herd immunity, which requires thatof the total population possess COVID-19 immunity from vaccination or recent infection, in all communities throughout the country. Reaching that goal will require the full participation of both the public and private sectors. One easy way to achieve this goal is by mandating vaccinations for employees.
