President Joe Biden is vowing what he’s calling “strong executive action” on combating climate change and bolstering the U.S. clean-energy industries, in the wake of the implosion of Democrats’ big budget bill.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters on Tuesday that “everything is on the table. It’s just not going to be this week on that decision.” The American Petroleum Institute, an oil-and-gas trade group, argues against reinstating the ban, saying exports mean U.S. jobs to meet export demand and that re-imposing a ban would actually mean higher energy costs, not lower. The Center for Biological Diversity, a conservation group, is urging Biden to reinstate the ban through a national climate emergency.
