This is apparently it for the B1G East and West, the 10th and final season of the geographic divisional structure before we go to a giant 18-team stack next year. Here are my best guesses for 2023 with a little recent historical perspective thrown in. We’ll go back-to-front in each division.
B1G logo model at Big Ten media days at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.Despite the addition of four Pac-12 members to the Big Ten in 2024, it appears the conference will stick with its plan to eliminate divisions after this season. That means 18 schools in one giant stack with a scheduling model that accounts for protected historic rivals who play every year, but no set geographic schedule.
So, this is it for the B1G East and West, the 10th and final season of that structure. Considering that the East champion has won each of the first nine championship games, maybe that’s for the best.
