A woman died after getting crushed by a tree while biking in Clearfield Wednesday evening.
Clearfield police responded to the Rio Grande Trail between 200 South and 300 North about 7:18 p.m. The woman, 68, was biking when the tree fell on her, crushing her and causing extensive injuries. Officers found her unconscious and pinned under the tree, Clearfield assistant police chief Devin Rogers said,
Police believe high winds in the area may have contributed to the accident, but the cause of the tree fall isn't known yet. Officers lifted the tree up to extricate the woman, Rogers said. She was transported to the hospital in "extremely" critical condition, where she died soon after. Her name has not yet been released.
