A group of bipartisan senators are attempting to make records on Unidentified Flying Objects available to the public, as part of a proposed amendment to the Senate's version of the National Defense Authorization Act.
The amendment would direct the National Archives and Records Administration to collect data on UFOs and Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena that would be made publicly available, unless a review board instructs the documents remain classified.“For decades, many Americans have been fascinated by objects mysterious and unexplained and it’s long past time they get some answers,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a statement obtained by the Hill.
Other sponsors of the proposal include Sens. Mike Rounds , Marco Rubio , Kirsten Gillibrand , Todd Young , and Martin Heinrich . Rubio is the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. The new legislation comes ahead of a UFO hearing of the House Oversight Committee later this month, which will be led by Reps. Tim Burchett and Anna Paulina Luna .
