The restaurant from Jon Alexis will replace a former Luby’s.
The menu has not been released, but it will be focused on casual bar and grill food with a focus on healthy options. The drinks program will include beer, wine, cocktails and “rare whiskeys” in an adults-only lounge.
The design of the restaurant, by Hatsumi Kuzuu of Kuzuu Design, is described as “cozy Marfa vibes” with a “cosmic country” aesthetic.“Birdie’s is just like East Dallas. Casually Texan, a little boho, super comfy and easygoing,” Alexis said in a news release. “East Dallas is casual, fun and outdoorsy — doesn’t it deserve a really groovy indoor/outdoor spot?”
