Just after midnight, two North Precinct officers in separate patrol cars were blocking traffic for a disabled vehicle on I-65 north just before the Daniel Payne Drive exit when an SUV hit one of the patrol cars. The officer who wasn’t injured was able to tell 911 dispatchers what happened, said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.The driver of the SUV was taken into custody on the suspicion that he was driving under the influence.
