Artists Tyson Davis and Jocelyn Van Taylor will discuss their murals in a forum moderated by Texas Public Radio’s Worth Repeating host Tori Pool in the Malú & Carlos Alvarez Blackbox Theater at Texas Public Radio.
Two Black artists who created murals on San Pedro Creek Culture Park will discuss and celebrate their work in a public unveiling Saturday.They will be just north of the, one of Texas’s oldest Black church sites.
In the years after the Civil War and the abolition of slavery, the church, founded in 1867, was a lifeline for formerly enslaved Texans to social, political and cultural life in San Antonio. Members of St. James, which remains an active parish in San Antonio, observed Juneteenth with a ceremony at the site last year.
