Black LDS theologian James Jones discusses unity, diversity and racism within the LDS Church.

To truly root out racism in the church, says James Jones, Latter-day Saint leaders will have to be a lot more specific about what it actually looks like.

The scriptures, particularly the Hebrew Bible, were written by oppressed and exiled people, many of whom were anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist — the exact opposite of the institutions and individuals often found teaching them in America today. So these are questions we’ve got to ask ourselves. So worship, for me, is ultimately not an act of ecclesiastical fealty but an act of right living, right relationship with the community and people around you.

They are doing the work that I want to do of breathing life into the scriptures, particularly for people on the margins, making a sacred text like the Book of Mormon really come alive for us. I can’t credit anybody with reinvigorating my faith in the Book of Mormon more than these two.The Latter-day Saint faith has a long tradition of emphasizing its own religious education — classes at Brigham Young University, seminary, Institutes of Religion — over traditional theological training.

Brosnan recently joined the cast of Black Bag, directed by Steven Soderbergh and due to begin production in May. After years of failing to secure a suitable replacement for the James Bond series, including a notable $34.8 million flop, this could be the big break Brosnan has been looking for. Soderbergh's new project is a spy movie set in the United Kingdom. As well as Brosnan, other members of the cast include Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, and fellow James Bond alumnus, Naomie Harris. Given Soderbergh's popularity, as well as the film's familiar genre, Black Bag could finally give Brosnan the James Bond follow-up he needs
