U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will try to use his three-nation tour of the Middle East and North Africa to reassure wary Israelis and Arabs that the Biden administration is committed to the region's security.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken attends a North Atlantic Council meeting during a NATO summit to discuss Russia's invasion of Ukraine, at the alliance's headquarters, Thursday, March 24, 2022 in Brussels. – U.S.

Those three countries normalized relations with Israel in 2020 in the so-called Abraham Accords brokered by the Trump administration. Egypt and possibly Jordan, the first two Arab states to recognize Israel, will also send representatives to the gathering to be held at a kibbutz in the Negev Desert where Israel's founding father, David Ben-Gurion, spent his retirement years.

Israel has walked a fine line between Russia and Ukraine since hostilities began last month. Bennett has expressed support for the Ukrainian people but stopped short of condemning Russia’s invasion.
