Russian President Vladimir Putin and citizens of the"motherland" were surprised Monday after hackers hijacked live footage of Russia’s Victory Day parade and told Russian viewers they had"blood on [their] hands."
Russian TV is highly censored, according to a report, but the"no to war" message made its way on to the broadcast as Russian forces were showcased in Red Square."You have the blood of thousands of Ukrainians and hundreds of dead children on your hands," one message read."The TV and the authorities are lying. No to war."The exact number of messages that made it on to Russian screens is unconfirmed.
Anonymous, a group that has attacked the Russian media in the past, shared Monday's hack, but the group did not take credit for it, according to the report. MTS, Russia's largest mobile network operator, confirmed that channels including NTV Plus, Rostelecom, and Wink were hacked."A cyberattack was carried out on Russian TV broadcasting channels, because of which subscribers could have extremist inscriptions in the broadcast grid," MTS said.
