Knight passed away at his home in Bloomington, his family confirmed Wednesday.

Legendary Indiana basketball coach Bob Knight, who was regarded as one of the greatest and most controversial coaches in the sport’s history, has died. He was 83 years old."We are grateful for all the thoughts and prayers and appreciate the continued respect for our privacy as Coach requested a private family gathering, which is being honored," the statement read.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested honoring Knight with a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer's Association or Marian University. They said donations to any charity in his name are also appreciated.All the news you need to know, every day
