The body of a 34-year-old man who disappeared while hiking on El Cajon Mountain was found Tuesday near one of the trails in Lakeside, a sheriff’s official said.
Deputies set up a search and rescue command post at the Lakeside Christian Church, a few miles from where the man went missing. A sheriff’s helicopter and volunteers on the ground searched the remote area through the night.The man’s identity and cause of death was not released, pending an investigation by the county Medical Examiner’s Office.He is the third person to die on local hiking trails in the last two weeks.suffered a medical emergency while hiking in Sorrento Valley and died July 23.
But monsoonal moisture moving in from the southeast brought clouds and cooling to start the week, National Weather Service meteorologist Brian Adams said. Temperatures in the Barona area, just west of El Cajon Mountain, hit a high of 85 degrees Monday — 10 to 15 degrees cooler than typical.
