director Tim Miller has signed on to oversee the two-week reshoots needed for the film adaptation of the hit video game series.
The outlet further confirms that director Eli Roth has not been fired. He has instead let Miller takeover themovie reshoots for the meantime, as he’s currently in production for his newest horror film titledGrindhousemovie is expected to exist in a different universe than the game which will allow the project to stray away from the first game in the franchise.
Based on one of the world’s most successful video game franchises from developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K Games, themovie will follow a group of unlikely heroes called Vault Hunters led by Lilith and Roland, who have been recruited for a retrieval mission. Lilith, an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas.
The film is directed by Roth from a screenplay written by Craig Mazin. It also stars Haley Bennett, Janina Gavankar, Gina Gershon, Cheyenne Jackson, Charles Babalola, Benjamin Byron Davis, Steven Boyer, Ryann Redmond, and Bobby Lee.is being produced by Arad Productions’ Avi Arad and Ari Arad, along with Picturestart’s Erik Feig. It will be executive produced by Gearbox founder Randy Pitchford and CEO of Take-Two Interactive Strauss Zelnick.
