The latest figure to raise the alarm about TikTok's data collection is FBI Director Christopher Wray, who told Congress that China may utilize the app to “control data collection on millions of users, or control the recommendation algorithm which could be used for influence operations if they so choose, or to control software on millions of devices.
Every politician and government figure in Washington knows that TikTok is Chinese spyware. The Department of Defense had already told employees to delete the app not just from government devices, but their own personal devices. The Democratic Party relied on TikTok as an election messaging tool, and yet it urged staffers and campaigns to use separate, dedicated devices for the app so as not to compromise personal information or important files.
