The Olentangy Berlin gymnastics team flirted with its first state title before Brecksville-Broadview Heights rallied to win its 20th consecutive championship and 23rd overall Friday at Hilliard Bradley.
“I’m proud of the girls,” Berlin coach Jen Hedrick said. “I couldn’t have asked for anything better. To score a 148 at state, our second-highest score of the season, awesome.” Berlin’s score of 148.85 at district last Saturday set program and meet records and topped Brecksville’s first-place effort in the Northeast District meet.
