ARLINGTON — Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark had to take a moment during this year’s Big 12 media days and walk back something he said at last year’s event....
There’s that disrupt word again. And if that was his favorite buzzword at media days on Wednesday, then “double-down” was certainly his favorite phrase.
True to his entertainment background, Yormark plans to add some musical flavor to this year’s Big 12 title game. A prominent musical artist will perform a halftime show. The announcement is scheduled for Aug. 12, which is the same day tickets for the title game go on sale. As for more potential expansion, Yormark was coy. He reiterated that he and the rest of the conference had a plan for expansion, though he wouldn’t dive into details. When asked if he had hopes of finding a potential school for BYU to partner with on the western side of the conference, Yormark said there was nothing in the works.
“But he’ll be cooler as soon as he secures a long-term conference contract for a lot of money,” Gundy said.
