The British-flagged tanker, which was seized by Iran in July amid tensions over sanctions, has been released.
at the height of tensions between the U.K., Tehran and Washington has been released and is heading to Dubai, according to the CEO of Stena Bulk, the Swedish firm that owns the vessel.
It had been captured by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard two months ago in the Strait of Hormuz, which connects the Gulf and the Indian Ocean and is a major international shipping route for oil. At the time, the Revolutionary Guard accused the crew of “non-compliance with international maritime laws and regulations.”
