The Rangers manager said deGrom’s return from elbow inflammation is going to take a while longer.
Bochy said deGrom, who is eligible to return from the IL on Sunday, is feeling better, but he won’t increase his throwing program until seeing“After they take a look at it, I can answer a lot better,” Bochy said when asked about the tentative plan for deGrom. “It feels better with each day, but you’ve got to go through some tests and evaluate. Once that happens, we can start to ramp up his pitching and hopefully get him on a mound.
DeGrom, who missed most of the last two seasons while with the New York Mets, came out of his last start against the New York Yankees on April 28 after 3.2 innings with what was described at the time as “forearm tightness.” An MRI revealed no structural damage but did show some inflammation.
