The Los Angeles County Fire Department said the fire started at 2:01 p.m. near N. Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Santa Maria Road.
Fire officials said the fire had burned about a half-acre of brush by then. About a half hour later, the fire had burned at least seven acres.The brush fire was burning on top of a ridge overlooking the old Topanga Corral, a historic concert venue that’s now a vacant lot after the facility burned down twice.
There was no information Wednesday about potential evacuations — the ridge where the fire was burning is surrounded by sparse neighborhoods nestled along Topanga Canyon. L.A. County fire officials said the fire was burning at a moderate pace. City fire officials said the brush in that area was moderate to heavy, and that the fire was being spurred on by light winds in the area.
