From poignant start to emotional finish, the 2020 Grammy Awards packed the three-and-a-half hour broadcast with unforgettable performances from the year's most celebrated artists with many of the nominees bringing their incredible talents to the stage. -- who took home three Grammys on Sunday night -- set the tone by declaring that "Tonight is for Kobe!" before roaring into "Cuz I Love You," the title-track from her 2019 album.
Emotions ran high throughout, with Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande and others breaking down in tears during their own performances, which pulled from personal struggles and breakthroughs. It was a bittersweet evening -- one full of celebrations and joy, but pain and catharsis, too. The healing, cathartic power of music prevailed and led to genuinely moving and excellent showings from artists across all genres, making 2020 a standout year in the Grammys' history.
