Rep. Zoe Lofgren believes Congress can make “a sound conclusion” on President Donald Trump’s impeachment inquiry after the Intelligence Committee reports its findings Monday.
On ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, Lofgren, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, said the idea of “absolute immunity is preposterous.” Allowing the president to engage in “frivolous appeals” that could extend beyond his term of office is “not what the Constitution provides,” she added.“The question is, with the evidence we have, can we make a sound conclusion?” Lofgren said. “I think we can.
On Monday, House impeachment investigators will present evidence against Trump to the Judiciary Committee. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has already directed the panel and other investigators to draft articles of impeachment, which suggests the House could vote to impeach Trump before the year ends.
