Officials in Truckee, California, had been searching for Rory Angelotta for six days but now say there is 'no realistic possibility' that he could have survived in the extreme winter weather conditions.
The search for missing skier Rory Angelotta, 43, of Truckee, California, a 1996 graduate of St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, has been suspended. TRUCKEE, California — Authorities have suspended the search for missing skier Rory Angelotta, saying in a news release that there is “no realistic possibility” that he could have survived the extreme winter conditions after six days.
The sheriff’s office says it still plans a “scaled response” for recovery operations. During the six-day search, about 220 people from 17 different agencies looked for Angelotta. Angelotta is a 1996 graduate of St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland. He moved to Colorado several years ago, but moved to Truckee in October. He is an employee at the Surefoot ski shop at Northstar Ski Resort, where he went skiing Saturday before being reported missing. Reports say Angelotta is an experienced skier.
