Jon Borowski will call for the team to replace general manager Brian Cashman at a fan protest Friday night at Yankee Stadium.
Jon Borowski, a Yankees fan from Jersey City, has organized a fan protest called "Fire Cashman Night" for Friday at Yankee Stadium. Jon Borowski might not come across as a revolutionary in the truest sense of that word, but his closest friends do understand that he is a Che Guevara-type figure when it comes to the simple act of getting under people’s skin.
Borowski has spearheaded “Fire Cashman Night,” a protest scheduled to take place in the right-field bleachers for Friday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays. He said he is optimistic that “about a hundred” fans will join him in sections 202-204 to vent their frustration about general managerIn fact, Borowski believes just organizing the rally has had an impact.
The one thing that might get Steinbrenner’s attention is a hit to his wallet, but on the business side, the Yankees are still the Evil Empire of old. In a twist that is not lost upon Borowski, his protest might help the team clear last season’s average attendance of 40,207 by putting fannies in the seats for a meaningless game. The team is averaging 41,054 fans a game, second best in the majors behind the Dodgers.on X , doesn’t care.
