The Cavs got completely overpowered on the boards by the Knicks in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series. What can they do to fix it?

Allen is right, it was 17 offensive rebounds that Cleveland gave up. And while everyone may know the story of the Game 1 loss at this point, the rebounding disparity by the numbers is still worth taking a look at considering what that disparity was.

So schematically -- without giving away the whole game plan -- the adjustment essentially boils down to defenders being in the right spot for Cleveland. Allen and Evan Mobley had 12 of Cleveland’s 15 second-half boards. They had 25 of Cleveland’s 38 for the night. Compare that to New York’s two starting big men in Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson, who combined for 18 of New York’s 51 rebounds for the game.
