The CItizens' Council of La Grange held a forum for candidates in the 2023 municipal election on March 15.

“The biggest issue we have in La Grange is infrastructure,” he said, noting that much of the Village’s infrastructure dated back to the last century. “Not that it’s a failing infrastructure, but it’s aging.” Augustine said of her time on the Board so far, COVID-19 issues and the renovation of the La Grange Theater took up the bulk of her time. She said the only two points to take the overflow were the Lehigh Hanson Quarry and a pipe leading to the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.

One question from the audience dealt with some residents personal beliefs about the decency of materials that should be available at the Library.Katie Allan, also an incumbent, is a an Adult Services Manager for the Orland Park Library, and said the biggest challenge for her was the search for new Executive Director Jennifer Hovanec.

Dauer said “I believe wholly in the tenet of free speech, free press, and I can’t imagine advocating for censorship of any material based on someone’s personal belief.”Vicky Renick addressed what motivated her to run by saying that she believed that “libraries build communities” and that she was running to “fulfill what I believe is a civic responsibility.”
