MONTREAL — Early in the third period Saturday night at Bell Centre, the wheels were about to fall off for the Washington Capitals. Down two goals to the Montreal Canadiens and unable to convert on any of their scoring chances, the Capitals were whistled for four penalties in a span of less than six minutes.
“Whatever happens in our shifts — we go down 1-0 — doesn’t change the way we play,” he said. “If we’re up 4-0, if we’re down 2-1, we need to be consistent and stay even-keeled with our game and not be trying to press.”
