NFL draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah says Cardinals can't go wrong with Jalen Carter or Will Anderson Jr. with the No.3 pick in the NFL draft
Besides Will Anderson Jr and Jalen Carter, Arizona could net a windfall by trading out of the third overall pick in the draftINDIANAPOLIS – Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson Jr? Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter? A surprise prospect who is soaring up the charts, perhaps? Maybe a trade to move down from the No.
“The way I have them stacked, I think Jalen Carter is the best player in the draft and I think Will Anderson is the second-best player,” Jeremiah said during a conference call with NFL writers. “But if you’re asking me, I wouldn’t be trading off of either those two guys when you look at Jalen Carter or Will Anderson,” Jeremiah said. “I probably wouldn’t want to get out if I were as desperate as they are for defensive linemen, and I think those are the two best guys.”
It may depend how the quarterback carousal plays out via free agency, but the possibility of moving down to acquire more picks, including a future extra first- and multiple second-round selections, could be incredibly intriguing for Ossenfort. Had the Cardinals decided to hire Sean Payton as head coach instead of Gannon, there’s a decent chance they might have had to part with the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s draft. Because Payton still had two years remaining on his contract with the Saints after stepping down following the 2021 season, any team hiring Payton would have had to trade draft compensation to the Saints in return.choice overall, and probably the Cardinals’ first-round pick in 2024.
