Once a public skeptic, former Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) is now changing her tune about President Joe Biden seeking reelection in 2024.
“He’s cooking with gas, man! I’ve never seen a record like this,” Maloney told NBC, underscoring that he has earned a second term in office.Concerns about Biden's age have haunted his likely but not yet announced reelection campaign. Biden is already the oldest president in U.S. history at 80 and would be 82 at the start of a hypothetical second term and 86 by its conclusion. Polls and focus groups have identified unease about his age in the minds of some voters.
During her 2022 primary cycle, in which redistricting havoc pitted her on a collision course with Rep. Jerry Nadler , Maloney cast doubt on whether Biden would seek reelection. She later reiterated that uncertainty while clarifying that she wanted him to run.
