Free agent quarterback Carson Wentz isn’t giving up on playing another season in the NFL, and now he’s turning to a seasoned — and controversial — ex-NFL head coach for help.
Wentz, who played last season with the Washington Commanders, has been in Tampa, Florida, throwing and studying film with former Buccaneers and Raiders coach Jon Gruden, according to anWentz, the No. 2 overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016, intends to play this upcoming season and is waiting for the right situation after he wasConsidering most teams have solidified their starting quarterback situations, Wentz is likely looking at a role as a backup when he signs with his next team.
Carr did have some of his best career stats under Gruden, and it would provide some more context as to why Wentz would turn to him for help. As for Wentz, he has struggled to find a permanent home after the Eagles traded him in March 2021 to the Indianapolis Colts, where he lasted just one season before being dealt to Washington.Wentz threw for 1,755 yards with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions as he dealt with a fractured finger last season, and the team went 8-8-1, last in the NFC East.
