The protests against more Chinese control over the region have increased in intensity this week as police take a more forceful role in ending them.

Cathay Pacific's CEO Rupert Hogg says staff who"support or participate in illegal protests" would face disciplinary action that"may include termination of employment." The airline's shares sank 4.9 per cent on Monday to lowest level in 10 years, despite it complying with orders on Friday from China's aviation authority Hong Kong canceled all flights into and our of the city as protestors overran the airport for a fourth day on Monday.
