'What we saw today was unconscionable,' Rep. Ocasio-Cortez says during visit to border facility. 'No woman should ever be locked up in a pen, when they have done no harm to another human being. … They should be given basic access to human rights.'

Congressional Democrats touring border detention centers in along the Texas-Mexico border on Monday recounted finding cells without running water, continued family separation and sick children in quarantine.

Rep. Joaquin Castro, the chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, said the tour showed him"that the system is still broken." "We expect there will be a full investigation," Castro said."I expect a congressional investigation." Klein added that CBP employees are expected to adhere to the agency’s standards of conduct,"both on and off duty," directing that its ranks"not make abusive, derisive, profane, or harassing statements or gestures, or engage in any other conduct evidencing hatred or invidious prejudice to or about one person or group on account of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age or disability.

Protesters vocally challenged the lawmakers throughout their news conference, shouting"liar, liar" and"do your job," and calling reports of the private CBP Facebook group"B.S." Rep. Bennie Thompson, the chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security called for anyone who posted the lewd content to be fired, and asserted that the officials responsible"seem empowered by President Trump."
