The 38-year-old is charged with homicide and is being treated at a local hospital after police shot him Sunday, authorities said.
Miguel A. Rodriguez is charged with the, which the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office said took place around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on the 2000 block of Swarr Run Road in East Hempfield Township.
The Lancaster County Special Emergency Response Team arrived around 2:30 a.m. and was also met with gunfire, prosecutors said. A SERT officer at one point shot Rodriguez in the arm and shoulder areas when Rodriguez opened his front door holding a rifle, prosecutors said. Rodriguez surrendered around 6:30 a.m. Sunday after officers threw tear gas into his home, prosecutors said. No law enforcement officers were injured during the standoff.
